Quilling

Quilling has recently become one of my favorite ways to pass the time.  Many people have never heard of quilling, and even those who have, may not know it’s true origins.  Quilling, also known as paper filigree, is thought to have originated sometime during the fifteenth century.  It is believed that poorer religious houses used strips of guilded paper, trimmed from the edges of their bibles, to decorate holy pictures.  These strips of paper were wound around the edges of goose quills, therefore giving the art it’s name, “Quilling”.  On this page I will share with you some of the crafts I have made by quilling.   Until then, you can learn more about quilling by watching this video I found on youtube.

I will add pictures of my own quilling work in time.  Please continue to check in.  This is still, “A work in progress!”  🙂
